Washington, Oregon, Illinois, and Minnesota publish official machine-readable contractor or professional-license records. Those states can return structured records on-site. Other states remain blocked from exact automation until an official, stable, documented source exists.
How Proof of Contractor chooses official license sources and confidence labels.
An exact result must name the license or registration number, legal entity, classification, status, and expiration when the source provides it. Discipline is shown only as the source exposes it. A link to an official portal is never counted as an exact answer.
High means a direct official state lookup is listed. Medium means the source is official, but the user may need trade-specific or local verification as a second step.
